Saturday October 19, 2013 Mike Slagel, lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident West of Perris on Cajalco Rd and Alexander Street.
According to the Riverside Coroners Office, Mike hit the side of an RV at 10:58 am and died at the Riverside County Medical Center in Moreno Valley at 2:33 pm.
According to my sources, Mike succumbed to massive internal injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation according to the California Hwy Patrol.
Mike is survived by three children, and his fiance’ Sonia.
As the Sales Manager at Temecula Quaid Harley Davidson he was well-loved and respected, as well as within the motorcycle community and by the Quaid Harley Davidson family. His absence will be felt for a long time to come among his coworkers and will be fondly remembered by those who loved him most.
Sunday evening, friends, family and employees gathered at the accident scene to remember Mike, light candles and share stories of a life now gone.
Tonight, as I gathered my information on Mike, I realized he is the age of my own son and that his life has passed far too soon. It was only a few months ago, that he worked with my boyfriend on the purchase of his bike, and included a disclaimer on his warranty that included a cartoon, “This warranty does not cover scuba diving.”
As we all well know, when we lose one of our own it is felt deeply through the community and reminds us of our own mortality. Tonight the biker community offers his children, his fiance’ Sonia and loved ones prayers for strength to get through this tragic loss.
